“Slavic names are used incorrectly and point to ethnophiletism”.
The Church, which will be created in Ukraine during the Unification of the Cathedral, will be called the Orthodox Church in Ukraine, not the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
“Not the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, because the Church is one… She belongs to Christ, not any nation or state. The new Church will be called differently – the Orthodox Church in Ukraine”, – said the Archbishop.
“In Greek the names of churches are: the Orthodox Church in Greece, in Serbia, in Bulgaria. Slavic names – Bulgarian, Serbian or Russian Orthodox Church – are used incorrectly and point to ethnophiletism, that is, religious nationalism,” he explained.
We will remind, in September, President Petro Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be called the structure, which will receive autocephaly from the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The current UOC – Moscow Patriarchate will call for new ways.
