Hard export restrictions will be imposed in connection with nuclear tests of North Korea.
The members of the UN Security Council today unanimously approved a draft resolution calling for the introduction of new economic sanctions against North Korea in connection with nuclear weapons tests.
The resolution provides for a reduction of North Korean exports by 25%. Mainly we are talking about restricting the sale of coal as well as copper, Nickel, silver and zinc. The UN resolution also prohibits the sale of monuments and statues made in North Korea.
China, a major importer of coal from North Korea, also supported the resolution, while the permanent representative of this country Liu Jieyi has accused the US and South Korea in the confrontation with Pyongyang.
The U.S. permanent representative in the security Council Samantha Power has called on all UN member States to strictly implement the resolution. In her opinion, North Korea will not stop nuclear program, but sanctions will significantly raise the price it.
In addition to economic constraints, the resolution added “black list” of persons banned entry to the countries of the United Nations 11 people, mostly diplomats of the DPRK.
The security Council urged States of the UN to reduce the number of staff in foreign missions in North Korea.
