The UN Security Council called on all parties to the conflict in the Donbas to implement the Minsk agreements.
The UN Security Council condemned the violation of ceasefire in the East of Ukraine and urged to abide by the Minsk agreement. This is stated in the statement of the security Council, adopted on Wednesday, June 6.
The document was prepared by France with support of Germany, said AFP. It has the status of a presidential statement, which is considered the second most important official document of the security Council after the resolution.
Document the meeting was read out by Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, which is currently on rotation is the chair of the organization.
The security Council recalled its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine
“The Security Council condemns the continuing violations of the ceasefire regime, especially the use of prohibited Minsk agreement heavy weapons, the use of which leads to tragic deaths, including civilians,” the statement says.
The security Council urged all parties to the conflict to fulfil the obligations for the breeding of forces and withdraw heavy weapons and recalled their full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
This was the first decision of the UN Security Council on Ukraine of February 2015.
The Russian foreign Ministry later welcomed the adoption of the statement.
“We believe that this decision will send an important international signal to Kiev with the aim of prompting to execution of the undertaken obligations”, − said the Russian Ministry.
The statement of the UN security Council, however, we are talking about that its obligations were fulfilled by all parties to the conflict.
