The resolution focused on human rights violations in the Crimea.
In new York on Tuesday, November 14, will consider an updated resolution of the UN General Assembly on human rights in the annexed Crimea. The draft resolution is scheduled for 17:00.
The meeting was attended by members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Ukrainian diplomats and human rights activists who became part of the Ukrainian delegation.
“The resolution speaks of gross violations of human rights in the occupied territories, this time it is quite sharp, there are things called by their names. It is expected that we will have less votes, but for us the main thing that the document passed. I think the document is still held, there is a sponsor around 30 countries”, – said the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Cemil.
Ukraine submitted to the Secretariat of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly in October updated resolution on human rights in Crimea. The new document calls for Russia to fulfill the provisional measures order of the International court of justice on the abolition of the ban of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and to provide instruction in Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar languages.
