The European Union had misinterpreted the attitude that Turkey has shown in 1963, stressed the President.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country no longer needs the EU membership.
“We see that the EU misunderstood the attitude that Turkey has demonstrated in 1963, when he first filed a petition to join,” said Erdogan.
However, he stressed that the Turkish side “will not be the first party to the fight, which will throw in the towel” and gave the leadership of the EU.
In early September, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that he sees opportunities for the entry of Turkey into the EU.
Later, the representative of the Union for foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini said that membership negotiations with Turkey continue.
