The trial of Marcelom: in strange circumstances

Soldier accused in the murder of photojournalist Andrea Rockelli

Ukrainian journalists learned the details in the case against Italy fighters of the national guard Vitaly Marcia in the murder of photographer Andrea Rokkelli and his Russian translator Andrei Mironov in 2014 under the Slavonic.

“Having a base position on the slope of the “Karachun” and guided by deliberate criminal purpose, caused the death of Italian citizen Andrea Rokkelli using the latest (and against all those who spent the latest photos on the ground) first, the numerous shots from a firearm, and then, after Rochelle hid in a small ravine, in order to save his life, fired 20 mortar rounds in his asylum, aiming thus to more accurately hit the target, and get into Andrea Rokkelli, which as a result was killed together with his Russian colleague Andrey Mironov, and seriously wounding a French journalist William Ragona and two other persons of the Ukrainian nationality, which is not possible to identify” so goes the statement of the prosecution.

Among the witnesses in the case are French photographer William Rohlon, which, as stated above, also came under fire, and three Italian journalists, who claimed to have repeatedly communicated with Merkavim, as he was one of the few among the Ukrainian soldiers know Italian language.

In particular, Rohlon said: “I am very confident that the shots sounded from the Ukrainian position, because after all that happened, running away in the opposite direction from the shots, I ran into a group of Pro-Russian separatists, which were about 30”.

And three Italian journalists say that during the conversation with them Markiv, who allegedly commanded the unit, has repeatedly stated that they “shoot at anything that moves in the radius of 2 km”. However, no records of conversations journalists do not have.

According to Ukrainian journalists, the prosecution notes that the Markiv was not personnel of the Ukrainian military, although it is not so and, in particular, is denied, and the Prosecutor’s arguments.

Journalists also draw attention to the fact that the distance between the mount Karachun and the place where he died Rochelle is more than 1.5 km, which is significantly more than the sighting range with a Kalashnikov rifle and anti-tank grenade launchers.

In addition, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine said that the deceased reporter Rochelle did not have official permission to work in the “grey zone”.
