The Syrian army with the allies repulsed the militants of the ISIS oil field near the city of Deir ez-Zor in the East.
In addition, according to monitoring group the Syrian Observatory for human rights, government forces also seized part of the main highway that connected Deir-ez-Zor city and al Mayadin, downstream along the Euphrates river, where retreating Islamist militants.
It is reported that such a move blocks potential Islamists receive support from al-Mayadin, located near the Iraqi border.
The oil-rich province of Deir-ez-Zor has become the latest epicenter of the war against the Islamists. This week, Syrian troops and their allies, supported by the Iranians, have reached Deir-ez-Zor, breaking the almost three-year dominance of the Islamists in Pro-government parts of the city. Government forces are trying to get to the nearest air base, still surrounded by the militants.
The group “ISIL” while occupies most of the province of Deir ez-Zor and half of the eponymous city, as well as some areas around the cities of Hama and HOMS in Eastern Syria.Go to the Main page
