The state Duma increases the minimum wage

The state Duma adopted in the first reading a bill to raise the minimum wage, the correspondent “of Rosbalt”.

From January 1, 2020, the minimum wage will be 12 thousand 130 roubles a month, that is 850 rubles more in relation to the current year. The bill also clarifies that the minimum wage will be set annually from 1 January of the respective year at the level not below the subsistence minimum for the second quarter of the previous year.

The law will allow to raise a salary of about 3.2 million people, according to the explanatory note to the draft. To increase the salaries of public sector workers in 2020 will need to allocate a budget of 20.9 billion rubles.

In this case the government are unable to answer the question of deputies, when the minimum wage in Russia will be close to the real salary that “people worked not only for food.” So, in the Communist party, for instance, declared that the minimum wage should be 25 to 33 thousand rubles a month.

“The overall goal is to move towards higher wages, we are working in this regard and definitely not to answer the question (about raising the minimum wage — approx. ed.). All measures aimed at ensuring poverty reduction and the trend to increase salaries,” — said at a meeting of the state Duma of the Deputy Minister of labour Vsevolod Vukolov.
