The Serbian President is ready to send troops to Kosovo

Президент Сербии готов ввести войска в КосовоDespite the President’s statement, the conflict between Serbia and Kosovo is unlikely.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said he was ready if necessary to send troops to Kosovo to protect ethnic Serbs from the region.

The announcement came a day after the failed attempt to send from Belgrade to the Northern Kosovo train “Railways of Serbia” with the inscription “Kosovo is Serbia”.

The order to stop the train in the Serbian raška gave the Prime Minister of Serbia Alexander survived. He said he went on the step to “save the life and liberty of the people and prevent further conflict and to show that we want peace.”

Despite the President’s statement, the conflict between Serbia and Kosovo is unlikely, according to BBC correspondent from Belgrade.

Serbia has made significant progress in negotiations on a possible accession to the European Union. Normalization of relations with Kosovo is an important part of this process.

But Belgrade wants to attract the international community’s attention to the fact that Pristina is not performing fully the agreements already reached, including on the issue of freedom of movement.

Recall that the independence of Kosovo was recognized by more than 100 countries. Serbia does not recognize the secession of Kosovo and still considers it his territory.
