The Supreme Council of Transnistria has approved the first reading of the initiative of the government of the Republic, in accordance with which the Russian flag will be equal in status to the national flag of the country.
Under the bill, the Russian flag will be placed on all buildings of authorities along with the national flag of the Republic.
According to the authors, this step will strengthen the statehood of the Republic and will mark a new stage of integration with Russia
It is reported that the local Parliament will have to approve the bill on second reading.
Earlier it was reported that the newly elected President of the breakaway Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky rejected a proposal for talks on granting the region a special status within Moldova and stated that he is not going to change the policy of annexation by Russia.
