85 years ago, February 27, 1932, was born the legendary beautiful and talented actress Elizabeth Taylor. In addition to great roles and amazing beauty it is also famous for the stormy romances. One of the most discussed her relationship with British actor Richard Burton.

About 7 years ago, Elizabeth Taylor published the last love letters of legendary actor Richard Burton, who died in 1984. The pair was twice married to each other, but their relationship was always passionate.

To write the book “Furious love. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton”, Sam Kashner and Nancy shoenberger acquainted with 40 previously unpublished love letters, which tells about the long and noisy Hollywood romances of yesteryear.

1. Enchantment.

Affair Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton is often called the novel of the century. It is characterized by profligacy, drunkenness, debauchery, incredible jewelry and the passion that has bewitched the world for 16 years while they were together. When the couple is reunited, Elizabeth was at the peak of popularity, but Richard’s named successor to sir Laurence Olivier on the London stage.

It all started with a kissing scene during the filming of “Cleopatra”. The pair continued to kiss even after the Director said “Cut!” Since then they became inseparable.

2. Lovers.

At their meeting, Taylor’s earned a million dollars for Cleopatra, and four were married. From her second husband, Michael Wilding, she had two sons: Michael (pictured with Elizabeth) and Christopher (right foreground), from third husband Michael Todd, she had a daughter Elizabeth, known as Lisa (not in the picture).

3. Illicit relationships.

When the relationship began, both actors were not free. Burton was married to Sybil Williams, a native of Wales, and Elizabeth was the fourth time married. Her husband was Eddie Fisher, who, according to her, she stole from us fans.

In one of the first letters Barton wrote to his sweetheart: “your smell turns Me on… rounded belly and tender inner thighs, an ass like a baby, lips, more aggressive spark in the eyes when you’re excited when you’re with your Welsh lover”.

5. A love connection.

Taylor and Burton slipped away and making love whenever possible. She said about him a hypnotic fascination: “imagine that Richard Burton whispers something in his ear while you make love. Immediately disappear all problems and troubles”.

6. The exchange of vows.

Six days after the divorce actress and Eddie Fisher, Taylor and Burton were married at the Ritz-Carlton in Montreal. Yellow chiffon bridesmaid dress was complemented by an emerald diamond brooch that Burton gave her for her 32nd birthday.

7. Hollywood Kingdom.

Lovelorn Barton wrote: “In my poor and that the suffering of my youth, I dreamed about that woman. And now, when from time to time the dream comes back to me, I extend my hand and realize she’s here with me. If you have not met or didn’t know her, you lost a lot in my life.”

8. The sad events.

Increased passions, and was strong evidence that it is possible to classify addiction to alcohol and infidelity. In one letter Burton wrote: “I know that sometimes I’m a terrible liar, but please believe that I never betrayed you, neither in words nor in actions. I love you too much”.

9. Wishes for birthday.

Taylor in new York celebrates her 32nd birthday together with Barton, who at that time plays a major role in the Broadway play “hamlet” Director John Gifaldi. On the cake is written: “Our Mascot, our team leader, love and happy birthday. Colleagues”.

10. Hype.

During their marriage, Taylor and Burton starred together in several films. For his performance in the film “Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf?” Elizabeth won her second Oscar and Richard was nominated for this award for the sixth time. The roles they played on screen, often reflect their real relationship.

11. Together again.

After the divorce, in June 1974, the couple reconciled and 16 months later, again secretly married in Chobe national Park in Botswana. Their second marriage was much shorter than the first, and the actors broke up in less than a year after registration. But they remained good friends until the death of Burton in 1984.

Many years later, Taylor will tell you what place Barton was in her heart: “at first sight in Rome we were always madly and strongly in love with each other.”
