Ukraine has not officially announced a ban on Yulia Samoilova.
The head of the organizing Committee of the Eurovision song contest the Frank-Dieter Freiling said that the European broadcasting Union will see to it that Russia was able to take part in the Eurovision song contest-2017.
Such a statement he made in a recent interview with German media.
“We have made clear that we expect all the performers were able to perform at the competition. If the decision to deny entry Samoilova will remain in force, the European broadcasting Union will try to make Russia were still able to participate,” said Frank-Dieter Freiling.
He stated that to date the Committee has not received from the Ukrainian authorities official notification to ban the Russian participant of competition submissions. Freiling added that should wait for a final decision from the Ukrainian side. The head of the organizing Committee also suggested how the ban can be removed.
“President or Prime Minister can decree to cancel the decision of the security services. Of course, in this matter, the European broadcasting Union must comply with Ukrainian laws. However, we expect that all performers who need to perform this song contest, will be able to take part in it,” added Frayling.
SBU has banned Yulia Samoilova entry into the country for three years because of tours to the occupied Crimea. The EBU has offered Russia to compete this year in the competition, organizing the stream of numbers participating, but the Russian side rejected this option.
