Court of arbitration for sport of Lausanne (CAS) has announced the disqualification of Russian curler Alexandra Krushelnytskoho, who won at the Olympics in Pyeongchang bronze in the mixed doubles.
On a positive doping sample Krushelnytskoho it became known on February 18 at the sportsman’s body found traces of Meldonium included in the list of banned drugs. Sample B 25-year-old curler also gave a positive result that was officially confirmed in the Olympic Committee of Russia.
Krushelnitsky refused to hold a hearing in CAS and acknowledged the anti-doping rule violation, but said that is not consciously
took illegal drugs.
“I recognize that a formal violation of existing anti-doping rules. It is foolish to deny it when the presence in the body of a prohibited substance is confirmed by the results of the two doping tests.
I will do now under the regulation requirements, is willing to act in accordance with the procedure”, – said the athlete.
CAS confirmed the guilt of Krushelnytskoho anti-doping rule violation and deprived Alexander and his partner Anastasia Bryzgalova bronze medals of the Olympic games in Pyeongchang. Krushelnytskoho was suspended from competition, his fate will decide the world Curling Federation.
After the disqualification of Russia bronze in mixed doubles Curling moved to Norwegian Duo Christine Moen, Skaslien and Magnus Nedregate.
