The Russian government may impose export duties on petroleum products

The Russian government may dispose of to introduce prohibitive duties on oil and oil products to resolve the situation with rising fuel prices in the domestic market.

This was stated by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

I would like the Ministry of energy spent in next few days consultations with our oil companies. We agreed that we will adopt a plan of work and a specific agreement on maintaining the existing level of prices for petroleum products on the domestic market,” – said Medvedev.

“Or soon I’ll have to sign the decision on whether to enter prohibitive duties on oil and petroleum products below the market situation was more stable,” – said the Russian Prime Minister.

Medvedev admitted that “despite the measures taken in a number of cases the rise in gasoline prices” and ordered to hold consultations with the oil companies within two days.

As reported in the first 9 months of the current year the share of Belarusian producers in the balance of the Ukrainian market of diesel fuel was reduced from 43% to 35%, in comparison with 9 months of 2017.

This volume was replaced primarily for pipeline supplies of Russian resource, whose share correspondingly increased from 28% to 37%.

We will remind, Belarus is one of the major exporters of petroleum products in Ukraine. The share of Belarus in the Ukrainian import of gasoline is more than 80%, in imports of diesel fuel – about 40%.
