Major-General Melugin lost both legs and eyes.
During the battle for Palmyra was seriously injured the head of Department of combat training of the headquarters of the Western military district, major-General Peter Melugin.
Melugin, according to sources, at the end of February hit a mine. He lost both legs and eyes. From Syria the General-major was taken to the Burdenko hospital in Moscow. The help of the hospital confirmed that Melugin is at them.

The defense Ministry official message about the death of General in Syria has not yet commented.
Peter Melugin is directly subordinate to the commander of the Western military district, Colonel-General Andrei Kartapolov, the head of the group of Russian troops in Syria.
