The Russian authorities want to limit the freedom of military action in the Internet

Now publish information about themselves on social networks will be banned.

The Russian leadership was too concerned about the fact that most of its soldiers quite easily spread information about themselves and their military service in the Internet. What are volunteer groups like Bellingcat and get information about the participation of Russian troops in the war in Ukraine using OSINT intelligence based on open sources.

Therefore, from the beginning of next year, the Russian defense Ministry has proposed to prohibit military personnel to tell the Internet about his service.

The bill proposed to prohibit “place in the information and telecommunication Internet network of information about themselves or other soldiers, to determine their departmental affiliation on his or her activities or service activities of other military personnel, on the activities of military units”.

The initiative will propose for public comment until October 2. In the case of approval, it will enter into force early next year.

May 30, the Ministry proposed to oblige the contractors, conscripts and foreign troops to report on the publications in social networks. The bill was referred to the military authorities, formations, military units of the Russian Armed forces, military commissariats.
