Independent researcher Rex Bunn and officer of the National library of New Zealand Alexander Holden found, in their opinion, the exact location of the eighth wonder of the world. The corresponding article was published in the Journal of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
The researchers tried to establish the location of the Pink and White terraces — Educapoker. For this, the authors examined records 1859, in the diary of a cartographer Ferdinand von Hostetter and reconstructed the events in 1886 that led to the destruction Educapoker.
Bunn and Holden came to the conclusion that they were from 9 to 15 metres below the modern lake level Rotomahana on the North island.
Previously, experts believed that the eighth wonder of the world can be, in particular, at the bottom Rotomahana.
Pink and White terraces were a typical example of entities that formed of lime carbonate sediment sources. Eighth wonder of the world was destroyed in 1886 by the eruption of the volcano Tarawera.
