Over the past four years, the country earned more than four billion euros.
The government of the Republic of Cyprus was rescued in 2013 over 4 billion through the sale of EU passports, including wealthy Ukrainians.
According to the publication, “among the hundreds of people who have acquired passports of the EU on contentious schemes,” the so-called “Golden visas” were “who owns the billions of the Russian oligarchs and representatives of the Ukrainian elite, accused of corruption,” reported the Guardian.
The right to live and work in Europe was granted to them “in exchange for cash investments”.
The newspaper points out that “more than 400 passports, assumed to have been issued through this scheme in the past year.”
