The representative of the US state Department made an important statement about the war in the Donbas

Peace in Donbas possible outside of the “Normandy”, says Kurt Walker.

Special representative of US state Department on Ukraine Kurt Volker told about the “window of opportunity” that will allow you to resolve the conflict in the Donbas out of the Normandy format.

He stated this after a visit to the ATO zone.

“With more than a thousand violations of the ceasefire regime and daily deaths, it is impossible to speak about freezing of the conflict or stabilization. This is a real brutal war,” said Walker.

He believes that Russia wants to maintain its pressure on Ukraine, so the war in the Donbas continues.

The American diplomat also said that Moscow is also affecting “the ability of Europeans to decide,” because Europe depends on Russian gas.

Walker said that he intends to support the “transatlantic approach” and to give preference to the Minsk agreements, which, according to him, led Russia to the negotiating table.

“Political changes in the United States and France, and the approaching presidential elections in Russia in 2018, giving a window of opportunity to get results out of a Norman format”, – he stressed.
