Putin has called the players “heroes”.
Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin called the Russian players who lost to Croatia in the match for the semi-finals of the world Cup, “heroes” who “died on the field.”
Social networks ambiguously took these words of Putin.
“There are two associations: Yes, died, played half dead. And “heroes” for VIN – is necessarily the ones who die,” – wrote on Twitter page “time of Troubles”.
“Russia – the territory of the cult of death” – added in the comments.
“Heroes. Heroism. Just like the recent secret hero Kiriyenko, who built the Russian default in 1998,” I remember Sergei Kiriyenko, the former Prime Minister and current Deputy head of Putin’s administration, which not long ago was given the title of “Hero of the Russian Federation”.
