The Prime Minister noted that the budget for 2018 to Finance the Federal program was provided for about 500 billion rubles, most of which were to be applied research and experimental development.

In January of this year, the Prime Minister also criticized Roskosmos for “project-mongering” and inefficient use of investment. He recalled the situation of the Vostochny space centre, on completion of which the Russian space Agency has requested additional funds.
“We need to finish the project-mongering. Enough talk, where we will fly in 2030, it is necessary to work, to speak less and do more, to actively pursue the commercialization of our space industry and increasing the share of Russia on the international market”, – said Medvedev, noting that in 2018 the company has not used about 16% of the public investment that was partly due to objective reasons.
He also pointed to the insufficiently high pace of construction of the Vostochny space centre, which was completed last year. However, many of the originally planned object is not constructed until now. On completion of the Russian space Agency has requested additional funds. At the same time, the Prime Minister said that the planned volume of budget funding for development of the space industry in the years 2019-2021 will be more than 515 billion rubles.
