The Prosecutor General’s office asked the interior Ministry to initiate the procedure of deprivation of citizenship of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada Deputy from the faction of the Radical party Andrei Artemenko for obtaining canadian citizenship, said the press Secretary of the Prosecutor General Larisa Sargan.
Ukrainian law forbids dual citizenship.
“The Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine appealed to the Minister of internal Affairs Arsen Avakov with a request to initiate through the State migration service, the procedure of loss of citizenship of Ukraine people’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Artemenko,” wrote Gar on Facebook.
She said that during the investigation of criminal proceedings on treason, had collected enough documents which indicate that Artemenko was awarded the canadian citizenship and has passport of citizen of Canada.
The Sargan noted that the State migration service after receiving the prosecution materials may appeal to the President of Ukraine Artemenko deprivation of citizenship of Ukraine.
