The Work Of Boris Ignatovich.
Photographic works of talented artists in Soviet times, difficult to split between the reports and the work of art. They created the photos tend to tell us about certain historical events, while simultaneously presenting an aesthetic value. And the best proof was the work of Soviet photographer Boris Ignatovich.
1. The photo Zoshchenko became Boris Ignatovich first on his photographic journey. He takes the satirist who buy apples. The picture was published in 1923 in the journal “the Onion”. After a few years the photographer is included in the famous group “October” (but him in the group was Alexander Rodchenko, Elizar Langman, Mr Debate, etc.). The new techniques used by the group “October”, provoked criticism from supporters of traditional photography: most of these were accusations of formalism and in imitation of “bourgeois culture”.

7. Members of the “October” constantly argued “Russian Association of proletarian photographers” (ROPF), which praised the happy life of the Soviet people under socialism. Ignatovich in the journal “Proletarian photo” wrote that RAPP substitute “the true reality of the documentary the Soviet photo sweet picture and pose”.
The attacks of the advocates of proletarian photography forced him to go to the cinema. Ignatovich became a cameraman: he participated in the filming of one of the first Soviet sound film “Olympiad of arts”. Then created a new photo group “Ignatovich Brigade”, well known in the mid 1930-ies.

With the outbreak of war Boris Vsevolodovich went to the front. Filmed for the army newspaper, has been at the forefront, took part in raids over enemy lines, flying on a plane to the partisans. His images of the war years was included in the anthology of Soviet military photo.

Thanks to unique photos of Boris Ignatovich today we can judge the past of our country, about the lives of the people in the first half of the twentieth century and in the difficult years of the great Patriotic war. Ignatovich and his colleagues brought reportage photography to a completely new level, expanding the traditional ideas about the genre of photographic art.
