Unusual photo project about ordinary people.

A photographer from USA Barbara peacock (Barbara Peacock) is one of five winners of the program Grants for Editorial Photography 2017 (“Grants in photojournalism”) from Getty Images. Every year the Agency selects the best projects and the authors receive a prize of $ 10,000, and support to implement their ideas in the field of photojournalism.

In the project “Bedrooms of Americans” (American Bedroom) Barbara explores the complexities and peculiarities of modern American life.

Cody, Portland, Maine: “Everything is so sad. I can’t do anything. Can’t go out with friends, play sports. I’m stuck in this room… Just me and my illness (rheumatic fever)”.

Jessica, Milford, new Hampshire: “Sometimes life throws you in different directions. But the most important thing is to remember where you need to be.”

Betty, Sweden, Maine: “My husband died. You can now smoke in the house”.

Nito, Cambridge, Massachusetts: “there Are days when I do not go out of the room.”

Pieper, Jay, Maine: “in the Morning I try not to make noise, not to Wake up. And then remember that she died.”

Claire Hanover, Massachusetts: “I have always loved my bedroom because it is cozy, and it reminds of my childhood. Now I’m getting older and experiencing many changes, but I like that this room is not changing.”

Christopher and Alice, Portland, Maine: “Now so rarely just the two of us, the constant running, two children, a cat. But every time such a chance, enjoying every minute of it. And they are so fleeting, like summer…”

Germain: “Every year I wait for Christmas to eat Christmas cookies. Always hide them.”

A married middle-aged couple: “Finally, our room beautiful. And here we are… not really!”

Young family: “I hate this room, but we waited so long for children. So I like it when we are all together, even in this tiny room”.

Winslow and cat Juno: “I Have now a transition period of life, but now at least I have a cat.”
