The Pentagon will continue to provide serious support to the Ukrainian armed forces, helping them to build capacity. This was stated by the official representative of Department Courtney Hillson following the meeting, us Secretary of defense Bob Wark with the foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, held Wednesday in Washington.
According to her, the parties discussed “the support that the USA provided to Ukraine in the sphere of security aimed at upgrading domestic defence capabilities and professionalism of the armed forces”.
Wark, as told by the Pentagon spokesman, also urged Kiev to introduce reforms that would improve the efficiency of the Ukrainian enterprises of the defense complex. Klimkin, in turn, said that Ukraine adheres to the Minsk agreements.
In late December, the outgoing President Barack Obama approved a law on military appropriations, which provided for a phased allocation of Ukraine $350 million for military purposes.
Just in 2014, Washington allocated $600 million for equipment, advice and assistance in the organization of training.
