The restrictions were imposed after the explosion of the car of the OSCE mission in Luhansk region.
The activities of the Special monitoring mission of the OSCE in the Donbass will be limited to the performance by the parties of the conflict demining.
This was stated by Deputy head of the OSCE mission in Ukraine Alexander hug.
Hug noted that the restrictions were imposed after the explosion of the car of the OSCE mission in Luhansk region. The measures introduced affected the mission’s ability to fix the violations of the regime of silence, however, this did not affect the process of early detection and prevention of deterioration of the situation in the Donbas.
“Limits were established by us. We have almost 600 observers in Lugansk and Donetsk regions and we are responsible to them. We will continue the restrictions until then, until the parties to comply with their obligations, in particular, on the issue of demining, marking and fencing of mines and unexploded ordnance,” explained hug.
He added that the restrictions will last as long as the Joint center for control and coordination will carry out its responsibilities for the coordination of mine-clearance work.
