Google now flags users who decided on their own to check for updates.
Android users are familiar with the problem of waiting for the updates for the operating system. At such moments the button “Check for updates” becomes one of the most used functions of the smartphone. For a long time this button was not very useful, but soon this should change.
According to Google representative Elliot Hughes when your smartphone will get the latest version of Google Play Services by clicking on the button update will be immediately available — of course, if available. In other words, no matter where you are in the target group by Google or not — you will still be able to update Android to the latest version.
The reason lies in the fact that now Google flags users who decided on their own to check for updates. This allows them to go beyond the small group (from 1 to 25 %) to which the update will get the fastest. So if you want to quickly get the latest version of the operating system will no longer need to manually download the file from the Network.
All this has limitations. First, you will have to wait until you will get the latest version of Google Play Services. Also, most likely, the statement of Hughes only applies to devices of series Pixel, Nexus and Android One — that is, those produced by Google and that work on the base firmware Android. Third-party manufacturers usually release updates for their devices on their own.
