Thailand, about 100 thousand prisoners would receive a Royal pardon.
The broad Amnesty declared in Thailand in honor of the accession of king Maha Vajiralongkorn Bagindareformasi (Frame X) to the throne.
The corresponding decree was issued by the Bureau of the Royal court on Sunday and comes into force on 12 December.
According to the document, the Amnesty covered prisoners with disabilities, and persons with oncological diseases, mental disorders, other serious illnesses, including HIV. Leave the prison and prisoners aged over 60 who have served at least one-third of his sentence. Sentenced to death the sentence will be commuted to life imprisonment.
The exact number of people covered by the Amnesty, is not specified. However, according to a published decree, it does not apply to those convicted of crimes related to drug trafficking.
Frame X ascended the throne on 1 December – on the 50th day after the death of his father, king Bhumibol Adulyadej, who ruled Thailand for 70 years.
