Sega re-announced the game Sonic Forces — announced the official name and unveiled the first gameplay trailer.
Actually, about this game we first heard in July last year, just when it was under the working title Project Sonic 2017, and details during the announcement, the publisher did not disclose.
Well, now the new adventures of ultra-fast sonic the hedgehog is called Sonic Forces; it will go on sale for Christmas this year. In the list of platforms appear on the Nintendo Switch, PC (yet claimed only the Windows version), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The development involved a team of Sonic Team, Tokyo internal division of Sega.
The authors call their new project “the evolution of ideas from Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations”. Players are promised three different game styles: modern, classic and another one which at the moment is not announced. The developers plan to use visual elements from the earlier games, but to make Sonic a fully three-dimensional Forces and to diversify its new mechanics. Partly this can be seen in the debut trailer, which shows 40 seconds of gameplay: sonic runs through the crumbling city, collects the famous gold ring, and fight with robots.
The camera is behind the hero, but on the mechanics of the game now resembles a cross between platforming and racing.
