The NBU showed the new silver coins

The coins are decorated with the image of the Cathedral of St. Catherine.

In Ukraine, from 18 September are in circulation nasilenie and silver coins of 5 and 10 hryvnias with the image of the temple of the Holy Martyr Catherine, which is located at the entrance to Chernigov, and is one of the business cards of the regional center.

The reverse of the coin depicts one of the business cards of Chernigov – Catherine’s Church (view from the bird’s eye view) that meets guests of the city, and placed: on the right – the emblem of the city, under which the inscription “Chernigov”, a stylized way, the inscription “Cossack Church of St. George” (below ). The obverse of the coins on the top there is the coat of arms and the inscription “Ukraine”. In the centre, against the background of the mirror a cruciform plan St. Catherine Church – emblem of the lyzogubs. Year of issue coins – 2017. Below is listed the denomination, and the left – logo banknote printing and minting works of the NBU.

Add that nasilenie coins have a face value of 5 UAH, silver – 10 UAH. The circulation will be, respectively, 40 thousand and 2.5 thousand pieces.

The NBU added that the new coins will complete the series “architectural Monuments of Ukraine” and dedicated to the Church, “which embodies the best traditions of Russian sacred architecture.”

The temple was built in the Ukrainian Baroque style in memory of the heroism of the Cossacks of the Chernigov regiment shown during the storming of the Turkish fortress Azov in 1696 under the command of Colonel Yakov Lizogub. The Church was built with funds brothers Cossacks Jacob and Seeds Lizogubov, consecrated in 1715.

We will remind, the national Bank of Ukraine from June 20, 2017, put into circulation two commemorative coins – coin 400 years of Lutsk exaltation of the cross brotherhood and “Joseph’s Blind.”
