Ukraine’s foreign exchange reserves rose by $98 million.
In October Ukraine’s foreign exchange reserves increased. This was announced on Tuesday, 7 November, the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine.
“Ukraine’s international reserves in October 2017 rose by $98 million, or 4%, and by 1 November was equivalent to $18,736 billion”, – stated in the message of the Central Bank.
Thus, from the beginning of the current year the level of international reserves increased by 21%.
According to the NBU, the inflow of reserves supplied to the government $185.3 million, including $170,3 million from the placement of internal government bonds denominated in foreign currency and income from swap operations with the designated Bank in the domestic market in the amount of $100 million At the same time of international reserves was sent to $to 147.2 million on currency interventions, which the NBU carried out to smooth excessive fluctuations in the interbank currency market under the influence of temporary factors.
In October, the NBU sold on the interbank currency market $181,2 million, including $41 million for interventions in the form of a request a better rate. At the same time, in October, the NBU bought as a result of the interventions in the query form the best course $34 million, $30.9 million was allocated from reserves for the payments of the government for servicing and repayment of public and publicly guaranteed debt in foreign currency, of which $3.3 million is to cater for government bonds denominated in foreign currency.
As of 1 November, the volume of international reserves cover of 3.7 months of future imports is sufficient to meet the obligations and current operations of the government and the NBU.
