The weakening of the Ukrainian hryvnia to US dollar is due to temporary factors. On Thursday, September 14, said the Deputy head of the NBU Oleg Churiy during a briefing in the national Bank.
“In late August – early September the hryvnia exchange rate has weakened somewhat, according to the NBU due to temporal factors,” said Churi, adding that among these factors – business VAT refunds and a decrease in the volume of currency sales.
In addition, according to Curia, played the role of psychological factor, when the hryvnia depreciated to the us dollar in the autumn months, as it was in previous years.
However, the NBU stated that the fundamentals will remain favorable, and the traditional autumn factors play a lesser role, as Naftogaz stopped buying foreign currency in the market, the Ministry of Finance more evenly reimburse VAT when it enters the revenue from exports of the crop.
