Tymchuk believes that the Crimea is Russian military base in the region.
Troops in the Crimea Russia uses rather to demonstrate the threat, not to prepare a real attack.
This opinion was expressed by the coordinator of group “Information resistance”, MP Dmitry Tymchuk.
He stressed that to block a possible offensive from the Crimea for the Ukrainian troops is an easy task, as the Peninsula connects to mainland Ukraine by two narrow isthmus. A major amphibious operation, the expert added that Russia has not pursued since the Second world war.
“And if we talk about Maritime and air operations, today only the United States army may carry out such operations. The Russians can try, but it will end – it’s hard to say”, – said Tymchuk.
He added that the Crimea is rather for Russian base for military and political influence in the region than to continue aggression against Ukraine.
