From the beginning of human existence people looked at the sky, wanting to know what is happening there. Today technological progress has made possible the existence of many scientific studies and space programs, which significantly expanded our view of the world in which we live. Offer you ten of the most significant undertakings in the history of space exploration.

1. The landing of the Curiosity Rover on the surface of Mars.

When landing the Mars Rover Curiosity was used several technologies: descent with a parachute decrease with the use of traction engines and the final landing on the surface with the help of “heavenly crane”. This position was used for the first time in history.

The program for the study of interplanetary space and celestial bodies. Among all the running devices, the most successful was the two: “pioneer 10” and “pioneer 11”. They first crossed the asteroid belt and reached two of the outer planets of the Solar system (Jupiter and Saturn).

6. The spacecraft “Rosetta”.

The spacecraft consists of two modules: the probe and the lander Philae, designed for a detailed study of comet 67P/Churyumov — Gerasimenko.

7. Interplanetary station Cassini.

Automatic interplanetary station was launched in 1997 to study Saturn and its rings, as well as the delivery of the lander on Titan.

8. The spacecraft Hayabusa.

The spacecraft Hayabusa, designed to study asteroid Itokawa, became the first spacecraft delivered to Earth samples of the asteroid.
