The Deputy Minister of education believes that only 40% of students can pass the EIT in the Ukrainian language as taught in schools in other languages, and Ukrainian is taught only as a subject.
In Ukraine only 10% of the students are taught in other languages. This statement was made by Deputy Minister of education and science Paul Habza.
– Now about 10% of the students are taught in languages other 90% is learning the Ukrainian language, he said.
The Deputy Minister also said that in Polish there are five schools in Hungarian in 176 schools, Romanian is less than 200. Several schools in Romanian, one Slovakian in Uzhgorod.
– From other languages most study in Russian, in Polish there are five schools in Hungarian in 176 schools, in Romanian a bit more, because they are in Transcarpathia and Chernivtsi region, but it is also less than 200. Several schools in Romanian, one Slovakian in Uzhgorod, now we do school in the Crimean Tatar language, told Hobza.
He stressed that in some regions, only 40% of students can pass the EIT in the Ukrainian language, because the schools teach in other languages, and Ukrainian is taught only as a subject.
– Article 7, as revised lie, a little change in the approaches to learning of students of national minorities. Today the situation is such that all three levels of school education in minority schools is in the language of a national minority. That is, in these schools the study of the Ukrainian language is only on the lessons of the Ukrainian language and literature. This situation makes it so that the citizens of Ukraine, especially with the Berehove and Vynohradiv districts that teach in the Hungarian language, of EIT in the Ukrainian language can take approximately 40%. This situation is very alarming, because we did not actually give these people opportunities to be realized in his native state, he added.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading the bill on education reform. Article 7 of the draft law stipulates that the language of the educational process in educational institutions is the state language. Persons belonging to indigenous peoples and national minorities are guaranteed the right to education in their native language along with Ukrainian, with a gradual increase at each level, the number of subjects that are taught in the Ukrainian language.
