Talks with Europe’s largest low-cost airline lasted a year.
From the first day of the signing of the agreement between the Boryspil airport and Ryanair, it was clear that there is a sabotage. This was stated by Minister of infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian, the TV channel “112 Ukraine”.
“I was sincerely surprised of the position of Mr. Ryabikina, but he did it on purpose in order to once again precisely to disrupt the negotiations. For all the things he voiced they are true or false, is confidential stuff. They are not voiced publicly. In fact, the airport “Lviv”, we already have examples, evidence signed is good for the airport contract, the contract with Ryanair. The same was proposed in “Boryspil”. But the purpose of the airport “Borispol” was the other – to block the entrance of Ryanair in Ukraine, and not to negotiate. From the first day it was clearly understood that there is a complete disruption and sabotage of the agreement. I was hoping that Mr Ryabikin listens not only to Mr. Myburgh or Kolomoisky and decide to listen to the leadership of the country. He decided to play on its own,” the Minister said.
According to him, the signing of the contract with Ryanair, it would be a huge step forward for the airport “Borispol”.
“The negotiating position of Ryanair lasted a year. They discussed all the moments, were full political support. To the airport “Borispol” it definitely was a huge positive step forward because it would allow to accumulate the number of passengers and to earn non-aeronautical services, as it is practiced around the world.
We will remind, earlier the General Director of the airport “Borispol” Pavel Ryabikin accused Ryanair in exerting political pressure on the airport to sign the contract. According to him, due to Ryanair ultimatum to the state-owned Boryspil airport could suffer a loss of UAH 2 billion.
Also note that today, July 10, at the official website of the Irish low cost airline Ryanair has lost the opportunity to purchase tickets in the direction from/to the airports of Boryspil and Lviv. Later it became known that Ryanair has canceled a planned appearance on the Ukrainian market.
