Military Commission of the Bakhchisaray district of the occupied Crimea have demanded from the recruit-a follower of “Jehovah’s Witnesses” to provide a document renouncing their faith and conversion. This was reported on the website of the “Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia.”
“On 9 June 2017 believer, once again visiting local military Commissariat has received an offer to perform alternative civil service (AGS). He agreed, adding that already long time achieves exactly this. But then he was told that the right to passage AGS will be granted only on condition of renunciation of their religious views,” the site says.
Two subpoenas from a conscript was required to appear before the draft Board “to provide documents about the change of faith.” The believer is not told in what kind of faith he needs to go and also where to obtain such documents, but added that in case of refusal he will go on trial, the report said.
