This opinion was expressed by Russian journalist Igor Yakovenko.
“In addition to Dating and other formalities, there is no subject. This is the first and main problem,” he said.
The journalist does not doubt that the meeting is “inevitable,” at least for the reason that “two men will be in the same room.” “But there are a few circumstances that make it difficult to expect anything serious from this meeting”, – he said.
In this context, Yakovenko recalled: “Putin has a number of absolutely non-negotiable fact”, especially the Crimea and the Donbass. “For Putin, Crimea is Russian, and the rest of the world the Ukrainian Crimea. There is no subject of bargaining, is not subject to compromise – at least as long as Putin is in power or until, until some completely insurmountable of force will make him change that view. Same – Donbass. Position “ihtamnet” leaves no space for compromise,” – said the journalist.
“The second topic – Syria. Here is absolutely the same, because trump has one theme: “get your Assad because he’s killing his people”, Putin is different: “and prove that he kills, it is the legitimate authority, and anyway you ain’t wanted here”. And again, there is no field for compromise,” he continued.
Yakovenko admitted that there are other topics that could be discussed by the presidents, but, for example, in the question of strategic arms reduction agreements are not visible, because the shrink doesn’t want neither Putin nor trump.
While Russia’s trade with the United States is virtually absent, so there “also there is no subject for conversation.”
Moreover, the journalist almost convinced that “no one of them have no plan for the conversation.”
“I would say it’s a kind of “battle of psychics” – the two masters of rhetorical fencing, each of which will set themselves the task to hypnotize and perebolet companion. Maybe it will be funny, maybe it’ll be fun, maybe it will be interesting. But it’s not a real competition, where the important result here will be an important process,” he predicted.
