The waiter of one of the beach restaurants in Northern Italy has asked the local mayor to leave the institution due to the fact that he’d come to dine in Bermuda shorts.
The head of administration of the resort town of Viareggio Giorgio del Gengaro told about the embarrassing incident and posted a photo of the shorts in his Facebook, adding that he was not warned about the restaurant dress code.
“It was not an official dinner and an informal meeting with close friends, so I was in casual clothes,” wrote the surprised mayor.
According to the mayor, he was sitting at a table on the terrace with friends, he was approached by a waiter and “embarrassed, said I should leave because I have no pants.”
Despite the fact that the evening ended with a pleasant dinner in a different restaurant, the mayor is still upset, calling the case a little “humiliating”.
“But between us, if I was badly dressed?” – asks its followers in Facebook the mayor.
In the restaurant of The Club Nautico apologized for the incident, inviting the mayor to become a member of the club as compensation.
The representative of the management of the restaurant, Muzio, Scaciati said that in the institution there are two signs warning about a dress code at the entrance and near the stairs.
“I apologize for what happened and hope that we will be able to find a common language with the mayor, which I am going to give a membership card,” added Scaciati.
