Unconditional support is impossible in this world, said press Secretary of the President of Russia.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin’s support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is not unconditional.
On the eve of the US state Department said that Russia should reconsider supporting Assad over a chemical attack in Syria. Today it was reported that the American President Donald trump thought about the war against Assad.
“Unconditional support is impossible in this world,” he said.
The Kremlin added that “it is wrong to say that Russia can convince Assad to do what Moscow wants”.
“It is absolutely wrong,” – said Peskov.
At the same time, he stressed that Moscow and Damascus “mutual support”, but Assad and his army – “the only real power in Syria that can fight the terrorists on the ground”.
According to him, the Kremlin is waiting for a full international investigation of the attack before the UN Security Council will take any resolution condemning a chemical attack.
However, he described the chemical attack in Idlib as “very tragic”.
Note that yesterday Russia said that videos of the chemical attack in Syria is staged. Moscow also argued that the government of Syria aircraft bombed a warehouse of the rebels to toxic substances.
