Bridgestone intends to start production of airless tires Air Free Bicycle in 2019
The Japanese company Bridgestone plans to launch Neprikasaemye tires Air Free into serial production two years later.
A few years ago, Bridgestone showed a prototype of the airless tire Air Free Concept. In their basis there were used the unique structure of spokes on the inner side of the tyre, and this design had two advantages: the bus does not need to pump and, accordingly, it cannot be pierced. Was presented a few concepts for agricultural and construction equipment.
And now the Japanese took over the bike, and seriously! Bridgestone intends to start production of airless tires Air Free Bicycle in 2019. Flexible spokes that serve as a damping material in such tire, made of a special thermoplastic rubber. It is a fully recyclable material suitable for re-use.
But why we are talking only about bikes? The fact that the technology Free Air is not suitable for high speeds. For use neprolivaek tires on vehicles such as motorcycles and cars, you need to solve the problem with the balancing, also at high speeds due to the design of the tire is too large centrifugal force. Perhaps in the future these problems will be eliminated.
