Apple has patented a new type of connector for mobile devices.
Apple plans to switch to using the new type connectors in mobile devices.
According to the description, the connector should be in a special self-healing material, which would get the connector cable when connecting to a smartphone.
After disconnecting the cable material would have regained its form, and on the body not to leave any holes. This solution provides “aesthetic coating” for the nest and protection for the contacts in the connector and circuitry inside the enclosure.
The patent mentions the use of a new connector, not only in smartphones but also other mobile devices, e.g. smart-watch. Interestingly, in the summer of 2016 Apple have patented a similar connector for the device, much like the iPhone. The model of connector is called Smart Connector.
All in all, the patent and trademark office has registered 60 new improvements from the company from Cupertino. In particular, one of them describes the smartphone in a ceramic package. If this ceramic coating may be built-in electrically active components.
