Meanwhile, the only single ticket for the Kiev city commuter train and trams number 4, 5 or bus No. 59, 60, 61 can be purchased for 7 hryvnia.

What is the reason for the price increase

As explained in the administration in Kiev, prices for travel will increase to support municipal capital companies.

Officials complain that over the past 2 years the price of electricity has increased by 4.6 times. They also recalled that the minimum wage in Ukraine also officially increased 2.6 times.

At the same time increased the cost of fuel, water and spare parts.

Therefore, the increase in tariffs will cover only the cost of electricity and to offset the cost of wages to workers.

Rates could be even higher

Advisor to the first Deputy Chairman of Kyiv city state administration on issues of pricing Basil Yastrubinsky noted that experts have calculated the cost based tariff.

According to calculations, the Kiev subway fare was to be of 6.64 UAH, and ground transportation – 6,91 UAH.

However, the price of admission for the citizens raised only partially. The rest of the expenses will be paid from the budget.

General Director KP “Kyivpastrans” Dmitry Levchenko explained that the reasonable rates are also provided for the fare increase city train to 15.39 UAH.

According to him, the price of the ticket includes the cost of transportation. It includes wages, fuel and lubricants, electricity, maintenance and repair of rolling stock.

A significant increase in the cost of these components led to the increase in the cost of one trip.
