The greatest risks of the state budget of Ukraine to 2018 is enclosed in the rapid growth of expenditure. This was told by the IMF resident representative in Ukraine Jost Longman.
“The risks we see, lies in the too rapid growth of current spending – growth rate significantly exceeds the nominal growth of the economy, and the significant slowing of some reforms. Taken together, this will harm the competitiveness of Ukraine, and in the end will threaten its debt sustainability,” said Longman.
According to him, it is important that fiscal policy had three objectives: debt reduction by keeping fiscal deficits at a low level; control of current expenses; the introduction of reforms to improve the tax system and the quality of public services.
