The holiday of spring and bright colors: in India festival Holi

The festival of Holi symbolizes the coming of spring.

India plunged into the fun and spectacular celebration of the annual Hindu spring festival – Holi. This year the holiday fell on March 13.

Holi is one of the oldest holidays in the world, mention of which can be found in the Sanskrit texts, the Vedas, Narada Purana and other Holy Scriptures of Hinduism.

This colorful day symbolizes the arrival of spring and the beginning of the New year according to Hindu calendar. Due to the saturation of colors and gaudy decorated streets festival is also called Festival of colors.

Also these days people give gifts: mothers give their daughters new dresses, and married couples get from their parents on the happiness of token money.
