The situation with cases of Yanukovych and other Ukrainian corrupt officials is not very transparent, said Faded.
The head of the influential Transparency International josé Faded told about his impressions on the situation with the anti-corruption campaign in Ukraine.
He noted that in 2016, met with President Petro Poroshenko, Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko, Minister of justice Petrenko palom and other representatives of the Ukrainian authorities to assess the situation. Then Faded I saw that the Ukrainian government is ready to create an anti-corruption infrastructure. Faded expressed surprise that a year later from all Yanukovych brought before the court which relates to treason. But other cases, for example, corruption, the return of assets withdrawn his closest associates abroad, still remain inconclusive.
On the other hand, noted Faded, the case of the $ 3 billion “debt of Yanukovych”, in which Russia is suing Ukraine in an English court, for Ukraine ended unsatisfactory. The court received no credible evidence of guilt Yanukovych from Ukraine.
“Now I heard from the attorney General returned about $ 1.5 billion from the accounts of the immediate environment ex-the President of the Treasury of Ukraine according to the decision of the court of last resort. But we have not seen this judgement and do not know where the money came from and on what grounds they were returned to the state budget,” said Faded.
According to him, in General, to Transparency International, the situation with the deeds of Yanukovych and other Ukrainian corrupt officials is not very transparent. Therefore, the organization appealed to the Prosecutor General with a proposal to create a public registry of such cases, to the volume of investigation of the Prosecutor General corruption was clear.

“At the meeting with me, the attorney General noted that the main responsible for the lack of efficiency of justice in Ukraine shall be the courts. And if the attorney General says that courts are not functioning, the establishment of a special anti-corruption court more than necessary,” – said the head of Transparency International.
As noted Faded, international experience shows that the ordinary courts are not able to adequately lead complex cases of corruption: in many countries it is associated with the highest echelons of power. He stressed that because of this, ordinary courts is much more difficult to maintain independence from individual politicians and political groups.
