Kovalev became the fourth head of the region to resign since the beginning of February 2017.
The Governor of Ryazan region Oleg Kovalev announced an early resignation.
According to “Rain” Kovalev at the head of the region will be replaced by the Deputy-United Russia party Nikolai Lyubimov, who was previously Vice-Governor of the neighboring Kaluga region.
“In the Ryazan region, I worked for almost nine years. In September, the next election for Governor… I took the decision not to run for a new term,” said Kovalev at the meeting of the regional government.
Kovalev became the fourth head of the region to resign since the beginning of February 2017. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin has accepted the resignation of heads of Perm Krai, Buryatia Republic and Novgorod region.
