The government will allocate 700 million UAH for the provision of Internet access, and 300 million UAH – for the purchase of computers in schools. The decision was taken on Wednesday, April 3, at the government meeting, reports the press service of the Ministry of education and science of Ukraine.
“Today, in the 21st century, we have schools that do not have access to the Internet. For example, in Transcarpathia 12.1 per cent of schools, and in Zhytomyr region – 19,3%. We have half of Ukrainian schools the speed of the Internet connection is less than 10Mb/s. This means that it is impossible to use the Internet to work with any educational content,” – said the Minister of education and science, Liliya Hrynevych.
It is noted that the purchase of computers will be implemented through co-financing, that is, local authorities will be required to pay a certain percentage of the equipment cost.
The ratio will be as follows:
for cities of regional importance – not more than 70% of the funds paid on account of grants, and not less than 30% – at the expense of local budgets;
– for areas and if it is not more than 90% of the subventions not less than 10% of means of local budgets;
– for villages (towns), having the status of mountain settlements, and on the line of contact – no more than 95% of the grants and not less than 5% of local budgets.
