Smeshko goes to the President.
The former head of the security Service of Ukraine Ihor Smeshko has declared intention to run for President.
“The decision…. Started paperwork for registration to the CEC by the presidential candidate of Ukraine”, – wrote Smeshko on his page in Facebook.
Smeshko said that had “no contacts with the oligarchs and will not cooperate”, and the money the campaign plans to attract “small and medium business”.
The main competitor in the presidential race Smeshko called “the media controlled by the oligarchs.”
Ihor Smeshko was the head of the security Service of Ukraine from September 2003 to February 2005, the position was appointed by the then President Leonid Kuchma.
Prior to that, Smeshko served as the first Deputy Secretary of national security Council, was Chairman of the Committee for military-technical cooperation and export control under the President of Ukraine. Also worked as attaché for defense, was a military attache at the Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland, the chief of intelligence of the Ministry of defense of Ukraine.
In 2014, President Petro Poroshenko appointed Igor Smeshko his adviser. Later Smeshko headed the Committee on intelligence under the President.
