When you hear the phrase “old pictures”, you probably imagine the pictures in black and white.
However these photos, taken in the early twentieth century, argue that colour photography has been around for quite a long time.
The first real technology of creating color images was patented by the French brothers Auguste and Louis lumière. They invented the process which was called autochrome remained quite popular among photographers for decades. Only in 1935 autochrom gradually began to be replaced by technology of Kodak.
We present you a selection of color photographs, which were taken about 100 years ago by the revolutionary technology of the lumière brothers.
